Luoping is accessible from Kunming by high-speed train (about 2 hours) or by bus. The county is also reachable from Guizhou province, making it a natural stop on a Yunnan-Guizhou itinerary. Local taxis and minibuses connect the main scenic areas.
Luoping's food reflects Buyi and Han influences. Local specialties include Buyi-style sour fish, wild mushroom dishes, and fresh river shrimp from the Duoyi River. During rapeseed season, canola honey is a popular local product.
