Food note

Jianchuan is known for matsutake mushrooms (松茸, August–October), porcini boletus (牛肝菌), mountain-cured ham (山老腿) smoked with pinewood, goat milk cake (乳饼), and the Bai 'Three Courses of Tea' ceremony (三道茶). The Bai 'Three Dishes' (三道菜) uses native chicken, colorful taro, and Dongshan radish. Roadside shops in the ancient town serve local specialties at reasonable prices.
